Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join a Tier 1 contractor that specialises in commercial building renovations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating and project management, with a focus on cost control and pricing strategies, specifically in ground works, renovations, and civil works. This role requires proficiency in industry-standard software such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid, as well as experience working directly on construction sites. You will play a critical role in analyzing project specifications, preparing accurate estimates, and ensuring that all costs are accounted for throughout the project lifecycle. The role is office based but there will be a need to visit site when required (most of the projects are London based). Responsibilities * Analyze project plans and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects. * Utilize Bluebeam and HeavyBid software to create accurate takeoffs and pricing models. * Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to gather necessary information for estimates. * Conduct negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing. * Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. * Prepare comprehensive reports detailing estimated costs, including labor, materials, and overhead expenses. * Review contracts to ensure compliance with project specifications and company policies. * Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid packages and presenting estimates to clients. Experience * Proven experience in construction estimating, with a strong understanding of construction management principles. * groundworks, civils, renovations * Familiarity with cost control measures and pricing strategies within the construction industry. * Experience using estimating software such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid is highly desirable. * Previous experience on construction sites is preferred, providing insight into practical application of estimates. * Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. * Background in project management is an asset, ensuring timely completion of estimates in alignment with project timelines.
