Position: Teaching Assistant – Reception Location: Primary School, Burgess Hill, West Sussex Contract Type: Permanent / Fixed Term (as applicable) Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only Hours: 8:20 am – 3:20 pm (6.5 hours per day) Pay: Grade 3 – Scale Point 3 (£24,796 pro rata) Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Burgess Hill, supporting the Reception class. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment and assist teachers in delivering engaging and tailored lessons to support young pupils’ early learning and development. Key Responsibilities Support teaching and learning within the Reception classroom and small group settings. Provide individual support to young pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Foster strong, positive relationships with Reception children and staff. Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment appropriate for early years education. Work collaboratively with teachers and support colleagues to improve pupil outcomes. Candidate Requirements Experience supporting children in a Reception or early years setting within a primary school or educational environment. Understanding of SEN and differentiated learning support. A patient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to early years learning support. A relevant qualification or First Aid training is desirable but not essential. Commitment to fostering an inclusive school culture and promoting pupil wellbeing.
