We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Financial Accountant to lead on the preparation and delivery of annual statutory accounts in line with IFRS, FReM and public sector financial reporting standards.
As a Financial Accountant you will coordinate year-end close processes, ensure accurate financial statements, and act as the primary contact for external auditors to deliver a smooth audit process.
The Financial Accountant will apply strong technical accounting and analytical skills, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks while supporting continuous improvement of financial controls.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Financial Accountant include:
Prepare Annual Financial Statements: Produce statutory accounts for multiple entities in line with IFRS, FReM and CIPFA standards
Lead Year-End Close: Coordinate the year-end close process, ensuring timely reconciliations and audit readiness
Manage External Audit: Act as the key point of contact for auditors, responding to requests and resolving issues
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Maintain adherence to public sector accounting frameworks and audit requirements
Provide Technical Advice: Offer accounting guidance and support to colleagues across the organisation
Maintain Financial Controls: Strengthen internal controls and ensure all financial processes are documented and effective
Manage Taxation and Insurance: Oversee VAT returns, tax computations and insurance matters
Support Continuous Improvement: Review and refine reporting schedules and year-end documentation
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. ICAS, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA)
Proven experience in preparing financial statements and statutory reporting
Strong knowledge of IFRS, FReM and public sector accounting frameworks
Experience liaising with external auditors and audit teams
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver under pressure
DESIRABLE
Experience using IRIS accounting software or similar
Background in multi-entity consolidation or intercompany reporting
Experience driving process improvements in financial reporting
