University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is offering a one-year fixed-term opportunity for a Nursing Associate to join the neonatal team at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester. This Band 4 role covers maternity leave and supports the delivery of high-quality, family-integrated care for neonates from 32 weeks gestation and above.

Role Overview

The Nursing Associate will work within a Level 1 neonatal unit comprising 12 cots (2 High Dependency and 10 Special Care). The role involves supporting families in caring for their babies and preparing for discharge, under the supervision of registered nurses and the multidisciplinary team.


Key Responsibilities

* Deliver high-quality, compassionate, patient-centred care
* Support registered nurses in assessment, planning, and evaluation of care
* Carry out clinical tasks to a high standard and competency
* Maintain accurate documentation and uphold infection prevention procedures
* Communicate effectively with families and the care team
* Work independently within the scope of the Nursing Associate role
* Participate in continuous learning and development
* Opportunity to work with the Community Neonatal Outreach Nurse


Required Skills and Experience

* Qualified Nursing Associate on the NMC register
* GCSE Grade A–C in Maths and English or equivalent (e.g., Functional Skills Level 2)
* Ability to work as part of a team and access computerised data
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work under own initiative
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
* Completed Care Certificate
* Experience in inpatient settings
* Care planning skills
* Experience working with babies or children
