The Business
Our client delivers end-to-end solutions across the energy sector, including electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy, EV infrastructure, metering, and home decarbonisation.
Their transmission division specialises in the design, build, and commissioning of substations up to 400kV, alongside the construction and maintenance of transmission lines. This work is critical to ensuring the reliability of the UK's energy network and supporting the transition to net zero.
The Role - Electrical Project Manager (Substations)
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead substation projects across electrical transmission frameworks in South Wales.
This is a key leadership role where you will take ownership of a portfolio of mechanical and electrical projects, managing them from inception through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading projects with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental standards
Managing cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget
Identifying and mitigating risks while maximising opportunities
Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
Supporting tendering and bid development activities
Driving performance and continuous improvement across project deliveryWhat We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
Experience delivering National Grid substation build projects, including knowledge of NG standards, rules, and EPC/M&E frameworks
Proven leadership on design and build projects
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
A relevant qualification in construction or engineering (or equivalent experience)
Project Management certification (e.g. APM, PMP)
Strong commercial awareness, particularly with NEC contracts
A solid understanding of regulatory requirements (HSWA, CDM, EAWR, etc.)
Demonstrated experience managing budgets and delivering projects to time and cost
