School Kitchen Assistant – Aurora Summerfield School

Permanent contact: Part time hrs per week, Working .am – .pm Monday to Friday.

Aurora Summerfields School opened in April 3 and is already making a meaningful impact. With a capacity of students, we are an independent specialist school supporting children and young people aged 5– with Autism spectrum conditions and associated challenges in accessing education.
We’re proud to have received Outstanding ratings in Behaviour & Attitudes and Personal Development in our latest Ofsted inspection.
We’re currently looking for a Part Time Kitchen Assistant to work along side the Cook and Kitchen Assistant in our school kitchen.
Key Duties:
1. Working closely with the School Cook to ensure the prompt and efficient preparation and service of all hot and cold meals
2. Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the school kitchen and associated areas
3. Assisting when required with planning menus, ordering and receiving deliveries
4. Working effectively and flexibly in a busy environment
Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
5. Experience working in a reactive catering environment school/residential/health care setting
6. Possess good working knowledge of kitchen equipment and cleaning schedules
7. Able to work proactively and in a self-directed/self-sufficient way
8. Working knowledge of health and safety legislation, including COSHH regulations, manual handling, food hygiene procedures and requirements in relation to food preparation.
9. Good communication skills to liaise effectively with a range of colleagues
10. Flexibility to deal with many and varied requests made on a daily basis
11. Display and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.
