What You’ll Be Doing We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a hands-on role with a focus on transactional finance, supporting both accounts payable and receivable. You’ll ensure accuracy and timeliness across key financial processes, while also having the opportunity to get involved in wider finance operations that support the smooth running of our business. To support collaboration with colleagues and effective working across teams, you’ll be expected to attend the Durham office at least three days per week. Your Day-to-Day Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions Preparing accurate and timely client invoices Supporting credit control and cash reporting Performing account reconciliations Responding to internal and external finance queries What we're looking for If some (or most) of the following sound like you, we'd love to hear from you: Experience working in an accounts or finance team with strong attention to detail Comfortable using MS Office and Outlook, and quick to pick up new systems Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities Excellent communication skills, with a polite and approachable manner Proactive, resourceful, and able to work independently when needed Nice to have A relevant finance qualification (though suitable experience is equally valued) Experience working in a busy office environment with multiple stakeholders Waterstons is committed to creating and an inclusive, understanding, and flexible place to work.
