Description and Requirements

We are seeking a Day Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services team on-site at Royal London Hospital. The role involves undertaking planned preventative maintenance, testing, repairs, and new installations across a wide range of mechanical equipment, services, systems, and buildings associated with managing a large hospital.


Responsibilities include:

* Supporting the Estates Management in providing a 24-hour maintenance service at LRH.
* Ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including Health and Safety legislation and HTM2020 standards.
* Working safely on all mechanical systems including HVAC, washroom services, sterilizers, bedpan macerators/washers, disinfectors, and other mechanical equipment.
* Managing mechanical systems as required, potentially acting as a competent person for systems such as boilers, medical gases, and confined spaces.
* Maintaining hospital equipment, undertaking inspections, testing, and participating in planned maintenance schemes.
* Performing basic electrical works related to mechanical systems, providing training and guidance to trainees and assistants.
* Promoting excellent customer service and liaising with other departments regarding maintenance issues.
* Undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Estates Manager.


Qualifications and Experience:

* BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent.
* Recognized apprenticeship.
* Authorised Person certifications for boilers, medical gases, and confined spaces.
* Recognized qualification in Legionella control (L8).
* Minimum of 5 years relevant trade experience.
* Good knowledge of H&S legislation and some knowledge of COSHH.
* Basic computer skills.
* Experience working with hot water and steam systems, hospital environments, and specialist hospital equipment.
* Experience working alone and knowledge of hospital-specific standards (HTMs).

This is a full-time, mid-senior level position within the engineering and IT sector, specifically in construction.
