Job Specification: Utilities Engineer / Maintenance TechnicianRole Overview
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Utilities Engineer will provide reactive and planned maintenance support across a production facility. The role requires collaboration with multiple trades, ensuring utility systems operate efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
* Escalate operational or maintenance issues to the Team Leader as required.
* Assist other skilled trades with maintenance, testing, inspections, repairs, and installations.
* Maintain utility service levels to support uninterrupted production.
* Serve as first responder for site utility systems, including:
o Steam and condensate networks
o High and low-pressure compressed air
o Water treatment and distribution
o Effluent management systems
o Chemical dosing and delivery
o Cooling systems and water hygiene management
o Building Management Systems (BMS)
o Air handling and fixed cooling equipment
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements for all assets.
* Conduct regular site monitoring to support environmental and operational compliance.
* Participate in emergency response, including extended cover, call-outs, and remote monitoring.
* Apply analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve faults.
* Work in line with established safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards.

Candidate Profile
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship in Engineering
* BOAS Industrial Boiler Operator certification (Category 2) or equivalent preferred
* Strong commitment to safe working practices
* Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams and mechanical drawings
* Experience with digital maintenance planning and tracking tools
* Effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels
