Job Description – SEN Teaching Assistant As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), working either 1:1 or in small groups. The majority of roles involve supporting pupils with: Autism (ASD) High-functioning SEN Challenging behaviour These roles require patience, resilience, and a genuine interest in working within the SEN sector. ⏰ Working hours: Typically 8:30am – 3:30pm Some schools 8:00am – 3:00pm SEN Teaching Assistant – Requirements To be considered for this role, you must: Be 18 years or older Have an Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Teaching Personnel Child & Adult DBS accepted Provide a minimum of 2 references covering the last 24 months Complete online safeguarding training (provided by Teaching Personnel) Desirable Experience (Not Essential) We welcome applications from candidates with experience in: SEN schools or SEN units Mainstream schools with SEN pupils Care or residential settings Youth work or mentoring College or FE settings Personal coaching or support work Any additional SEN, SEND, or additional needs qualifications are highly desirable.
