Your Mission:
As a Consultant Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of electrical engineering within our innovative projects. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Lead the Charge: Act as the electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical leadership and guidance to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Interface Management: Oversee the electrical interface with the power system, ensuring a best-for-programme approach.
* Ownership of Delivery: Take technical ownership of key technology readiness projects, ensuring product maturity before platform integration.
* Support Facilities: Assist in delivering facility requirements for technology readiness projects, including verification and validation activities.
* Risk Analysis: Conduct technical risk analysis and develop mitigation plans for equipment delivery into the SSNA platform.
* Team Development: Contribute to the resilience planning for the SSNA Steam IDTs engineering team, ensuring succession planning for enduring capabilities.
* Governance: Independently govern, author, and approve technical artefacts.
Your Skills and Experience:
Essential:
* 1st degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc, BEng, or MEng)
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership
* Expertise in integrating power electronic conversion equipment into power system designs (e.g., inverters, rectifiers)
* Understanding of power system interface requirements (stability, quality, protection coordination)
* Experience in developing power system verification and validation plans
* Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle in complex environments
Desirable:
* Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (e.g., MSc, PhD)
* Familiarity with permanent magnet rotating machines
* Experience in power system analysis and control
* Submarine operator experience

About the SSNA Steam Integrated Delivery Team (SIDT):
As the Electrical SME within the SIDT, you will be at the forefront of delivering innovative equipment to the SSNA platform. This unique role allows you to shape the future of submarine technology while developing your skills in requirement generation, verification, and validation.
