We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in the West Midlands, who are looking to appoint a Head of Compliance on a six month fixed term contract.
This is a full-time position based in the West Midlands, with occasional travel to a second site in West Yorkshire (all expenses covered), offering a salary of circa £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience of leading a property compliance function within social housing, delivering robust assurance frameworks, managing high-performing teams and contractors, and ensuring full statutory compliance through strong governance, accurate asset data and a culture focused on safe outcomes for residents.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
* Leading the strategic direction of the compliance function to ensure all legal, statutory, contractual and regulatory obligations are fully achieved across Property Services
* Conducting comprehensive auditing, monitoring and assurance activities to evidence compliance, mitigate risk and provide clear performance reporting to senior leadership and board
* Managing Compliance Managers, the Repairs Lead and the Contracts and Compliance Co-ordinator to deliver high performance, maintain professional competence and achieve safe outcomes for residents
* Overseeing contracts, contractors and external service providers to ensure robust contract governance, performance control and demonstrable regulatory compliance
* Developing and continuously improving compliance policies, procedures and operational frameworks to strengthen safety standards and service quality
* Maintaining accurate asset compliance data and systems to ensure reliable record keeping and alignment with strategic asset management objectives
* Driving collaborative working across senior management, stakeholders, partners and external agencies to embed a strong culture of compliance, accountability and continuous improvement
Experience required:
* Significant senior-level experience leading a property compliance function within social or supported housing, ensuring full adherence to legal, statutory and regulatory obligations (including gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, water hygiene and building safety compliance)
* Proven experience developing and delivering compliance assurance frameworks, including auditing, performance monitoring, KPI reporting and presenting compliance performance to executive teams and Board
* Demonstrable experience managing and developing multi-disciplinary teams, driving high performance, professional competence and a strong safety culture across compliance and repairs functions
* Extensive experience overseeing contracts and external contractors, with strong contract governance, performance management and regulatory oversight within a housing/property environment
* Track record of improving compliance systems, asset data management and operational processes, using technology and robust record-keeping to mitigate risk, strengthen assurance and support strategic asset management objectives
Working hours:
* 37 hours per week
* Monday – Friday
* Hybrid working two days a week based in the office
