Contract Fitter/Engineer - Kingston Upon Thames

Who are you?

* A skilled fitter with a good all-round knowledge of horticultural equipment.

* Experienced in the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment, including Kubota tractors and ride-on mowers.

* Proactive in managing service schedules and keeping accurate records.

* Able to carry out on-site repairs and address puncture issues.

* A good communicator, able to liaise with suppliers and assist with staff training in basic maintenance.

A Glimpse into the Role Awaiting You

The Fitter/Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment, primarily at our Kingston depot, with a requirement to carry out on-site repairs and address puncture issues. This role is crucial in ensuring all machinery is safe and compliant with manufacturer instructions.

* Maintaining/repairing various grounds maintenance equipment, including two-stroke machines (strimmers, blowers, hedge cutters), pedestrian machinery (walk-behind lawnmowers, powered weed brushes), and ride-on equipment, specifically Kubota ride-on mowers and Kubota tractors and their implements.

* Arranging support from suppliers to undertake warranty servicing and complex repairs.

* Assisting with keeping the asset database up to date.

* Carrying out on-site repairs and puncture issues.

* Ensuring all plant and equipment on the contract is safe and compliant with manufacturers' instructions.

* Assisting with staff training in basic maintenance.

* Setting up service schedules and keeping records, ordering parts and keeping stock records.

* Good knowledge of fault finding and diagnostics.

* Basic computer skills and communication skills to liaise with suppliers.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge The successful candidate will ideally have 3 years' experience in a similar role, or at least two years of experience in maintaining grounds maintenance equipment. They should hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in land-based service engineering or similar or have completed a thorough apprenticeship in agriculture or horticulture machinery mechanics. A full driving licence is essential, preferably with trailer qualifications.
