Mivan is a dynamic and progressive specialist joinery and interior fit-out contractor with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are currently looking for an experienced and driven Metal Work Supervisor.
Candidates should have extensive experience in general metalwork, fabrication and welding, including: TIG/MIG welding, press brake, guillotine and general fabrication machinery. The ideal candidate will have previous management/supervisory experience gained in a production environment and the ability to lead and motivate others. Candidates should also be able to interpret and read workshop/design drawings and set up work pieces and tools.
Main duties will include:
* Supervise the metalwork area within the Factory ensuring that all components, units and structures are fabricated to the required standard.
* Interpret workshop/design drawings and job sheets, complete production schedules and allocate works. Weld, fabricate & assemble metal components to high standards of accuracy & finish.
* Supervise reporting employees and monitor performance. Ensure personnel are adequately trained and understand targets and that they are working to consistent standards, meeting delivery dates and quality expectations.
* Effective liaison, as required, with Design and suppliers to ensure that potential problems are resolved efficiently and the manufacture process is not impeded.
* Liaise with relevant Project Manager to advise on progress and assist with problem resolution as required for contracts.
* Provide regular evaluation and commentary of progress to the Factory Manager and Company Directors as requested.
* Assist Factory Management / Senior Management to maintain harmonious employee relations, motivate employees, implement improvement strategies and reinforce Company practices and processes.
* Provision of regular toolbox talks / communication to team members as directed.
* Ensure satisfactory levels of discipline are maintained within area of responsibility and undertake appropriate action where necessary in accordance with Company Procedures and in collaboration with Factory Management and the HR Department.
* Monitor team performance in relation to health and safety, advise and correct behaviour as required and refer to Factory Management/H&S where appropriate. Along with Factory Management and other Supervisors ensure that a high standard of housekeeping and safety is maintained and that all relevant environmental and health & safety regulations and procedures are adhered to.
* Train and mentor apprentices and trainees and induct new employees.
* Occasionally visit site for surveys, the performance of works/installation or as otherwise required.
* Undertake any other duties within your sphere of knowledge, experience or competency as requested.
