Electrical Construction Manager – Life Sciences Project Location: Cambridge, UK Contract Value: £40M MEP ️ Project Type: Shell & Core Lab & Office Fit-Out Start Date: Immediate Start / Short Notice Preferred Contract / Permanent Roles Considered My client is currently seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Construction Manager to lead and oversee the electrical delivery on a high-profile life sciences project in Cambridge. This is a £40M MEP scheme involving complex laboratory and office fitouts, as well as shell and core works. Role Overview: As Electrical Construction Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing all electrical installation works on site, ensuring safety, quality, and programme are maintained. This is a technically challenging and rewarding role on a flagship development in the heart of the UK's growing biotech hub. ️ Key Responsibilities: - Oversee all site-based electrical construction activities from shell & core through to fit-out. - Manage subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and programme. - Coordinate closely with mechanical, architectural, and client teams. - Report on progress, quality, and technical issues to senior management. - Ensure commissioning plans are followed and delivered on schedule. - Enforce and champion site safety and compliance. Requirements: - Proven experience as an Electrical Construction Manager on complex MEP projects (ideally in life sciences, healthcare, or high-spec commercial). - Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, containment, cabling, distribution, and commissioning. - Experience on large-scale projects (£20M MEP preferred). - SMSTS, CSCS, and ideally relevant electrical qualifications (e.g. HNC, NVQ, or apprenticeship). - Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
