Behaviour Teaching Assistant Location: Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Start Date: January 2026 or sooner Contract: Term Time Only Salary: £89–£115 per day GSL Education is working with an Alternative Provision in Hull to recruit a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. About the Role: As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of class teachers, the SENCO, or senior staff to support pupils with complex needs. Your main focus will be helping students manage their behaviour, understand their triggers, and engage positively in learning. Key responsibilities include: Supporting pupils with a range of learning, social, and emotional difficulties. Supervising small groups or individual students, both in-class and on school trips or activities. Monitoring and responding to pupil behaviour, personal needs, and communication. Contributing to planning and reviewing differentiated curricula, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs). Implementing strategies to improve engagement, using interactive and tailored learning approaches. Encouraging positive socialisation, interaction, and behaviour across the school. Minimum Requirements: Experience working in a Pupil Referral Unit, Special Educational Needs School, or Alternative Provision. Knowledge of SEMH, learning difficulties (including literacy and numeracy challenges), and ADHD. Experience managing behaviour linked to additional needs and using verbal de-escalation techniques. Full availability Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30, Term Time Only. Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
