Location: Workington Community Hospital and Hill Top Heights, Carlisle.
Grade: NHS AfC: Band 4.
Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week (Mon‑Fri 08:30‑16:30).
Salary: £28,392 - £31,157 per annum.

Job Overview
An opportunity within the friendly, supportive Bladder and Bowel Service for Assistant Practitioners. Candidates may also be considered who are willing to work towards the Assistant Practitioner qualification.
Responsibilities
* Undertake L1 bladder and bowel dysfunction work, including assessment and treatment of patients.
* Provide suitable bladder and bowel dysfunction advice and treat patients accordingly.
* Prescribe containment products and/or devices that support patients’ management of bladder or bowel dysfunction.
Main Duties
The Community Specialist Bladder and Bowel Service is nurse‑led and supports patients across North Cumbria. Team members work collaboratively to provide holistic, person‑centred assessment, management and/or treatment of bladder or bowel dysfunction.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GSCE in Maths and English, Grade A-C or 4-9.
* Willingness to undertake or study for an Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree.
* Care Certificate (required).
Experience
* Experience working within a health or social care setting.
* Experience in a community setting.
* Experience in a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Experience working within a Therapy team environment.
Knowledge
* Understanding of bladder and bowel dysfunction.
* Evidence of ongoing training and completion of mandatory courses.
* Understanding of reflective practice and its application.
* Appreciation of the roles of other agencies (voluntary and statutory).
* Self‑awareness and appreciation of limitations.
* Knowledge of moving and handling policies and procedures.
* Understanding and knowledge of relevant National Service Frameworks and guidelines.
Skills and Aptitudes
* Ability to undertake work delegated by a registered clinician.
* Ability to seek support from registered clinicians when required.
* Effective verbal and written communication.
* Inherent initiative.
* Teamwork in a multi‑disciplinary setting.
* Basic IT skills.
* Maintain confidentiality.
