Employee working groups The role This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Associate or Director Project Manager at Ingleton Wood. The cost centre for the candidate would be Nottingham, which is where the candidate will be based, but there will be a need to work across practice where needed. The offer includes the flexibility of remote work as the defence sector at Ingleton Wood is UK National coverage. The position will be responsible for leading defence-related projects, liaising with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring successful project delivery. They will also contribute to strategic planning, business development, and team management with national coverage. The candidate will need experience in defence sector covering design/project management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement, with knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards in the defence industry. The candidate will need excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills Ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams effectively. With knowledge and proficiency in project management tools and software related to Engineering, Architecture, or related Project Management or Defence Management tool is a plus. The candidate must be a good forward planner and an excellent motivator as they have to manage large teams, across practice with different goals to enable them to work together to produce a coordinated a coherent design package. The candidate must have the ability to present their ideas effectively and to be able to evaluate the ideas of others whilst in meetings. They need an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of a construction project and to be efficient document managers. The role will involve the accumulation and production of design submissions including preparation of design narratives, technical design submittal documents, RFI, Change Control, and financial tracking / scheduling. The candidate will be the focus point of multiple design deliveries and client facing, therefore good people skills are essential. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and securing additional projects with management of existing clients and generating new opportunities. The opportunity will enable the candidate to work closely with the Defence Directors and Partners of Practice to shape the future of our defence strategy with the idea of being part of the wider succession plan. Please Note : Due to the nature of the work undertaken successful applicants will need to have active UK SC Clearance or the ability to gain UK SC clearance The selected candidate will… Manage a design team across practice. Managing the design process using his/her commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise. Manage existing and support the business development of new clients. Support, motivate and develop the design team and actively promote exemplar behaviour and security culture within the team. Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development of a building design. Encouraging and inspiring design consultants to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources and talents in a cost-effective way. Support the defence leadership team in business development and supporting the overall secure infrastructure growth strategy. (Defence, Aviation, Secure Infrastructure, etc). Provide direction and feedback on team and individual objectives. Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate. Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales. Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction. Tasks will include running projects from inception to completion ranging in value from £300k to £10m. To continually improve team profitability by managing time and resources allocated to projects and by ensuring that time spent on projects is recorded and that fee invoicing is carried out at appropriate stages. Meet annual and monthly fee targets as directed by the Office Partner. Assist in developing scheme designs to detail design stage. Liaise with other consultants, internal and external, to ensure fully integrated production documentation. Liaise with sub-contractors, specialist suppliers and other contractors as appropriate, including checking of drawings. Assist in and contribute to the regular review of activities to maximise effectiveness and delivery of design packages. Assist with design management being undertaken by other Ingleton Wood teams or offices as requested. Take responsibility for day to day team management. Foster two way communication and effective team-working. Put measures in place to identify, manage and minimise risks (e.g. financial, business continuity, health & safety) Promote Ingleton Wood’s values and objectives to colleagues and externally where opportunity arises. Participate actively in promoting the Practice and initiate such activity. Maintain and nurture current clients and generate new business. Be familiar with traditional contacting and procurement deliverables. Be familiar with NEC contracting and procurement deliverables. Essential skills, experience, and attributes… Degree in a built environment or construction-related subject. Project Management qualification (AMP, PRINCE2, RICS Cert) preferred. Experience managing construction or architectural projects independently. Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and NBS specification system. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
