To follow schemes of work within the agreed subject areas, as defined by the Head of Department. The Post holder should devise their own scheme to be agreed with Head of Department. To set course work for completion by candidates as required by the curriculum, to assess and provide feedback on that work in the manner prescribed by the Awarding Organisation. To provide help and support to all candidates in a supportive manner, bearing in mind their individual needs and abilities, the requirements of the Awarding Organisation and the availability of time. To attend any relevant meetings organised by the College for the smooth running of the Department and the teaching of the agreed subjects. Attend meetings on matters relating to student progress and pastoral care, course co-ordination, management, assessment, and development. To contribute to the review and evaluation of the curriculum provision. TocontributetocurriculumdevelopmentinitiativeswithintheDepartmentwith regard to the subjects being taught. To participate in staff development activities, as organised by the College and agreed with the Head of Department/Deputy Head of Department/Curriculum Manager. To direct and co-operate with Support staff as appropriate to ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning and the smooth running of all aspects of a course. Toliaisewithexternalexaminers,moderators,andverifiersifrequired. To co-operate with the Head of Department/Deputy Head/Curriculum Manager and other staff, to ensure standards are maintained and the learners receive an excellent teaching and learning experience. To participate in the marketing of and recruitment to courses within the subject/programme area, including the interviewing of students, attendance at parents evenings, prize-giving, open days, awards ceremonies and other similar departmental/college events. To attend all required induction and other training programmes as required by Human Resources and the Advanced Practitioner for Teaching and Learning. General Duties To promote and raise the profile of the College and the services it provides to the local business and civic community. To contribute to college quality assurance systems. At all times to observe all internal College policies and procedures. Terms and Conditions of Service All terms and conditions of employment for this post are those as laid down by the Colleges Employers Forum Lecturing negotiating committee. There are three rates of pay for part-time lecturing and the rate is determined by the level of subject taught: Grade 5 £25.68 per hour Grade4-£34.72perhour Grade3-£40.53perhour Please note that hourly rates for timetabled hours includes class preparation and marking time. There is no additional time allocation for preparation and marking.
