An exciting opportunity in the novel area of engineering biology. This major chemical business is investing in its capability to create bio-based ingredients and raw materials. This is not a start-up – it is a well-funded and revenue generating group at a long-established global business.
You will be working on full strain engineering projects to:
* develop strains
* scale up
* transfer the process to full scale production
You will be given full autonomy on projects. You will use your knowledge of strain engineering to produce new sustainable bio-based ingredients to replace traditional chemical and petrochemical feedstocks. The new generation of ingredients are for use in everyday products such as cosmetics.
We are interested to hear from PhD qualified scientists with:
* a technical background in strain engineering of yeast or bacteria
* this is likely to include culture and genetic manipulation
* experience in developing scalable microbial cells culture processes,
* ideally experience of a variety of microbial systems
* experience of transferring bioprocesses from pilot scale to industrial plants.
Your technical skills will include advanced molecular biology techniques such as:
* Cloning
* DNA and RNA manipulation and organism transformation.
An excellent opportunity to use cutting edge science to develop truly sustainable raw materials for a highly successful global chemicals business.
Key Skills: Strain engineering, fermentation, culture, genetic manipulation, molecular biology, microbial systems, process scale up, cell culture, process transfer, bacteria, yeast.
