The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

The Forensic Hub Support Officer role is responsible for delivering an efficient and effective service relating to the handling, integrity and placement for all items requiring forensic examination, within an ISO 17025 accredited workspace
Key Responsibilities
You will need to:


•undertake safe, secure and efficient handling and storage of all items of property requiring forensic examination


•including biohazard items (body fluids / body parts / etc), hazardous substances, firearms, ammunitions, drugs, cash and valuables.


•undertake independent decision making regarding the forensic integrity of exhibits received into the Forensic Hub for examination, determining whether there is any potential for subsequent forensic analysis to have been compromised.


•maintain integrity, security and continuity of movements for all exhibits received into the Forensic Hub, ensuring that the Forensic Case Management System is updated accurately with storage locations, movements and interactions.


•comply with Force H&S policy and health & safety legislation at all times, including the use of PPE.


•undertake various admin related tasks including, but not limited to the processing invoices, emails and PACE DNA samples.

Skills & Experience

•Good standard of secondary education (GCSEs A-C grade / or equivalent) including maths and English; or have substantial recent evidence of competent performance in a directly relevant equivalent role.


•To be IT literate and demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Edge.


•Able to work methodically to a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail, with minimal supervision.


•Able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills particularly the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.


•Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written.


•Able to demonstrate the focus and drive to manage a high workload, effectively prioritise work, achieve targets and get results.
