The role is primarily based at Henshaw Depot, LS19, with hybrid working arrangements and flexibility to provide officer cover at other bases is required.
Leeds City Council’s Cleaner Neighbourhoods Teams play a key role in maintaining clean, safe and welcoming communities across the city. The teams work proactively with residents, local businesses, Elected Members and partner services to address environmental issues such as littering, fly‑tipping, graffiti, waste management and street cleanliness. Cleaner Neighbourhoods teams help to improve local environments and support neighbourhood pride.
This role will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Cleaner Neighbourhoods and Environmental Health Services Team. The post supports service delivery across all areas of operation and plays a key role in ensuring the efficient day to day running of the service.
You will be responsible for providing a wide range of administrative duties, including maintaining and updating databases and spreadsheets, raising orders, responding to emails and creating and updating service requests.
You will be required to exercise discretion, confidentiality and sound judgement, working accurately to strict deadlines and managing competing priorities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using initiative. You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other IT systems and adaptable to learning new processes and systems.
Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Business Administration Service provides administration support activities to a wide range of teams and services across the council.
We help the council to streamline operations by redesigning processes, reviewing models of delivery to enable better sharing of resources and exploiting existing or introducing new technology to modernise the way we work.
Our staff use a range of computer programmes and systems to support services which include those working with teams based across the council in a number of different administration roles. The role involves hybrid working (home/office dependant on service need), potentially working face-to-face with customers and working within the council boundaries as required.
Responsibilities for Grade:
1. Working with high levels of accuracy for tasks such as checking documents, recording numerical and alphabetical information.
2. Identify problems and areas for improvement and offer solutions.
3. Work unsupervised, using your initiative to adhere to time scales and deadlines and manage your own workload.
4. Carry out administrative duties.
5. Ability to collate data and use it to produce reports.
6. Knowledge and experience of adhering to procedures and legislation relating to confidential information.
7. Work flexibly and move within service areas – working at different locations depending on service demand.

Environmental Services - Cleaner Neighbourhoods and Environmental Health
The purpose of this role is to provide efficient administrative support across the Environments Service, including Cleaner Neighbourhoods, Enforcement, and Environmental Health. These teams work together to keep neighbourhoods clean, safe, and healthy through services such as fly‑tip removal, road and path sweeping, environmental enforcement, dog warden activities, food safety, pest control, and environmental protection. The administrative teams support this work by creating and managing service requests, handling customer enquiries, monitoring shared mailboxes, processing complaints, maintaining records, running reports, raising purchase orders, and providing general office duties. They also coordinate with operational teams by arranging lost/found dog collection, preparing food inspection packs, supporting pest control officers, and assisting with Freedom of Information requests. The postholder will contribute to the smooth and effective running of the service by delivering accurate administration, strong coordination, and high-quality customer service to enable frontline teams to protect and improve the local environment.
