Location of post: Residential unit and Enhanced Assessment units at Ann Marie Howes Care Centre in Sheldon
Role and Responsibilities
The main role of a Second Chef is to support the professional catering lead within the Care Centre by ensuring that catering services of the highest quality are provided to residents and other users, including a daily restaurant service, with high customer satisfaction over 7 days.
To support the catering lead in developing menus that meet National Nutritional Standards, respond to individual choices and needs, and promote well-being. Ensuring meals are nutritionally balanced and appropriate for service users.
About the Residential Units
Each centre's residential units consist of 32 beds, providing long-term care and support, personal care, meaningful activities, and celebrating festive seasons with residents, families, and friends.
At Anne Marie Howes, residents enjoy gardens and water features. The centre has 24 beds for older adults with dementia and an 8-bed Enhanced Assessment (EAB) unit for citizens requiring ongoing rehabilitation before returning home from hospitals.
Rehabilitation Programmes
The EAB's rehabilitation programmes are supported by care assistants under supervision of senior staff and therapists. The EAB unit comprises 8 beds.
Leadership and Additional Responsibilities
The Second Chef supports the catering lead in providing leadership to the catering team, ensuring responsiveness to enablement and preventative care, and contributing to the centre's vision and development, including cooking demonstrations, events, and functions.
Working Conditions
Due to the nature of the role, staff are required to work on a rota, including early and late shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
