The role is based in Exeter as part of our Exeter Mobility team, and you will help deliver a challenging forward workload for regional clients including Local Authorities and private developers.
Your role
We are seeking to recruit an Associate/Principal Transport Planner to join our Transport Planning team in Exeter. The typical day-to-day responsibilities include the following:
* Managing a broad range of transport planning projects, with responsibility for project team management and collaboration, budgeting, programming and technical excellence.
* Contributing to four pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Technical Excellence) and supporting Pillar Leads.
* Identifying and grasping further opportunities with existing clients.
* Supporting Project Managers and Directors in bids, fee proposals and project programmes.
* Attending and presenting at internal and external technical knowledge sharing events.
* Supervising Graduates and Transport Planners in technical tasks and coaching them to acquire new skills.
* Working in a large multi-disciplinary office with access to a range of colleagues across fields.
* Supporting the growth of our Mobility team in Exeter as part of a team.
* Being present in the office (hybrid working) to help develop and coach junior staff.
Your Team
Our Exeter Mobility team includes transport planning, modelling and engineering professionals who work on a portfolio of multi-disciplinary and cross-sector projects for public and private sector clients. Projects include transport strategies, sustainable transport (including EV), active travel, development planning and more. These projects are generally located within the region (Cornwall, Devon, Torbay and Somerset) and managed by our Exeter Mobility team, but we also support schemes across the UK, working with planning, infrastructure design, structures and environmental teams.
The successful applicant will help deliver a challenging forward workload for a range of regional clients including Local Authorities and private developers. You will be supported by senior members of the Mobility team and by UK-wide specialist teams. What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Experience in active travel, public transport, scheme development, business case development, transport studies, strategies and appraisals.
* Experience contributing to and preparing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans; EIA Transport Chapters; and providing design advice to developers/architects (desirable but not essential).
* Strong numerical and analytical skills and working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, transport data analysis and transportation software.
* Ability to produce technical and non-technical reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders to a high standard.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present at meetings, workshops and public forums.
* Project management experience with ability to lead delivery, supervise workloads, delegate tasks, support junior staff and manage client expectations.
* Ability to prepare bids including methodology and fee proposals.
* Sound commercial awareness and financial management.
* If not already achieved, the candidate will be expected to work towards professional accreditation.
