Adult Education Family Literacy Program Coordinator needed to coordinate a Family Literacy Program with Western Connecticut Regional Adult and Continuing Education (WERACE), the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Center, and the Family Resource Center (FRC) at Morris Street School.
SUMMARY/GOAL OF THE POSITION:
Responsible for coordination of the Family Literacy Program at Morris Street School
ESSENTIAL TASKS OF THE POSITION (Illustrative not inclusive):
1. Coordinate dinner meals for program;
2. Act as the first point of contact for program staff;
3. Share communications between staff members of the program with the WERACE and FACE Center Directors;
4. Effectively manage forms and data needed for quality data collection;
5. Continually monitor cohort attendance and engage cohort members who struggle to attend sessions;
6. Meet regularly with the Program Facilitator and WERACE and FACE Center Directors to review program data;
7. Perform other tasks and responsibilities associated with Family Literacy Program and grant funding, as delegated by the WERACE and/or FACE Center Director
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
8. Knowledge of adult learner and alternative educational methods and have the ability to apply these methods for adult, at-risk teens and multicultural students;
9. Ability to teach students of diverse abilities and backgrounds and overcome barriers to success in a multi-level class;
10. Ability to relate well to different groups of students of different ages and ability levels;
11. Exceptional computer skills and be familiar with software programs;
12. Ability to use a variety of audio-visual equipment;
13. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and through correct written grammar and usage;
14. Must have strong desire to work with people from a broad range of backgrounds;
15. Must be a team-player who can collaborate with colleagues;
16. Must attend in-service, staff meetings and state training;
17. Must maintain clean and professional environment;
18. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills;
19. Exceptional computer skills and be familiar with software programs

20. No Prior experience required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
21. High School Diploma required
22. Background checks required
WORK YEAR:
23. Program will run from February 27 through May 16, 2024, on Tuesdays and Thursday nights from 5:30-8:30pm. Coordinator is expected to be on site each night the program is in session from 6:15-8:45pm.
SALARY:
24. This is a Part-Time, Non-Union position.
25. Stipend for this position is $1,375.
