Claims Risk & Governance Assistant
Opportunity to build assurance skills and work with data, MI and stakeholders. Hybrid role with 80% homeworking and 20% in Stratford-upon-Avon.
About the role
The role supports the delivery of a robust and consistently applied control and governance environment across Claims, ensuring risks are identified, monitored and escalated in line with the Group Operational Risk Framework. It offers strong exposure to operational risk, controls testing and governance activity.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a robust control and governance framework across the Claims function.
* Support control testing and assurance activity, recording and evidencing control outputs.
* Review MI and monitor quality review volumes and completion against agreed targets.
* Assist in monitoring actions arising from risk reviews and chase completion of mandatory activities such as e‑learning.
* Escalate issues as required.
* Assist with data analysis and trend identification to support recommendations and agreed actions.
* Engage stakeholders across Claims, compiling and communicating audit, risk and control information.
* Liaise with Head Office, regional and project teams on risk identification and issue management.
Qualifications
* Positive, proactive and organised approach to working with data, controls and evidence.
* Knowledge of risk identification and assessment techniques and how controls are designed, tested and evidenced.
* Experience of audit, assurance, quality or governance activity, including selecting and applying appropriate review approaches and question sets (first line risk experience desirable).
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with ability to review data, identify trends, complete basic deep‑dives and support insight‑led recommendations.
* Confident Excel and spreadsheet skills, with strong record‑keeping, attention to detail and accurate review of evidence and control outputs.
* Clear communication and presentation skills, with confidence to engage stakeholders at different levels.
* Proactive learning mindset, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a structured, control‑focused environment.
* Strong team player, comfortable working independently when required.
