SEN Learning Support Assistant - Aylesbury

About The School
Based in Aylesbury, the school serves students aged 11-19 with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech, Language & Communication Needs, and Specific Learning Difficulties. Rated "Good" by Ofsted in March 2024, the school fosters a nurturing, inclusive atmosphere. Students benefit from a rich curriculum including vocational programs, social resilience, and practical life skills. The school's own café and work‑experience opportunities play a vital role in preparing pupils for independence and employment
Role Summary & Responsibilities
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant in Aylesbury, you will:
* Deliver tailored one-to-one and group support aligned with students' Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Aid with literacy, numeracy, and social resilience targets in class and during life skills sessions.
* Help implement sensory and communication strategies alongside therapists and teaching staff.
* Support vocational and practical activities such as horticulture or the school café.
* Encourage independence in self-care, personal finance, and daily routines.
* Build positive, respectful relationships with pupils to promote emotional well-being.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
We're looking for candidates who:
* Have experience working with children with SEN - especially ASD, MLD, SLCN, or SpLD.
* Understand EHCP targets and behaviour/sensory support strategies.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, pupils, and families.
* Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive practice.
* (Desirable) Hold relevant qualifications like CACHE Level 2/3 or TA training.
