The Role: We invite you to join us as a SpecialistPsychiatrist in Torbay HTT, a pivotal role situated within the Southern Locality of the AdultClinical Directorate. The service is an exciting time to join this team withthe plans of integrated care and 24/7 pilot community care .

This is a Fixed term role for 2 years with the possibility of renewal
Main duties of the job
The post holderwill be providing the senior medical leadership to Torbay HTT
The post holderwill be available 9-5 Monday to Friday. The post holder will be currently basedat Haytor Unit, Torbay Hospital
The post holderwill work within MDT and offer urgent assessment, diagnosis and treatment ofpatients being managed by the Torbay HTT as well as other expert clinicalservices in support of patients and their families/carers as judged necessary.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent
* GMC registration.
* Membership or Affiliateship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Experience
* Minimum of 12 years medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.

* Experience at senior level working in the field of Psychiatry
* Experience of Home Treatment or equivalent
* Delivering supervision of non-medical prescribers
Clinical Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent clinical skills in interviewing and physical and psychological assessment of patients.
* Ability to manage crises and act independently.
* Ability to manage potentially violent and disturbed patients.
* Confidence in assessing and managing physical health problems and emergencies.
* Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983
* Good knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation including the MCA.
* Good knowledge of clinical risk management.
* Good knowledge of evidence based strategies for management of psychiatric disorder
* Ability to apply psychological models to practical situations.
* Understanding of NHS organisational arrangements including social care
Research
* Interest in maintaining up to date clinical knowledge base.
* Enthusiasm to contribute to research on site.
* Publications in peer reviewed journals.
