To provide professional career guidance services, including personal guidance interviews, in order to improve pupils' skills, knowledge and understanding for career planning and management. This role is open to Independent Careers Advisers or someone who would like to be employed through the school. Essential: Level 6 or 7 qualified Careers Adviser. The role of the Careers Adviser is to provide impartial and professional career guidance that meets the needs of every child, with advice and support tailored to individual needs while raising aspirations. They will provide professional career guidance services, including career guidance appointments to improve students' skills, knowledge and understanding for career planning and management to secure the best opportunities for their future.
* To conduct student‑focused, impartial, personal career guidance interviews with pupils which challenge and support them to make informed, realistic and adaptable career decisions based on their interests, strengths, aspirations, motivation, confidence and approach to learning.
* To involve parents and carers, when appropriate, in the career guidance programme and support provided to their child.
* Generate, maintain and share records in support of individual advice given to each student, and subsequent agreed actions. All students should have access to these records to support their career development.
* Provide support and preparation for the next stage, with particular focus on ensuring all students have realistic, ambitious plans for their next stage and ensuring support for any students at risk of becoming NEET.
* Collaborate with the Careers Leader on the delivery of the academy's career guidance programme and support the achievement of Gatsby Benchmarks.
* Support the delivery of engaging presentations and sessions on career-related topics such as apprenticeships and employability skills.
* Use expert knowledge of careers information and maintain up-to-date labour market information, post-secondary education options, apprenticeships, vocational training programmes and employment opportunities.
* Manage a resource centre containing relevant career-related materials, including University prospectuses, industry guides and job market reports.
* A commitment to maintaining professional development.
