About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Employment Adviser to provide comprehensive employment law and employee relations advice and support to members. The successful candidate will advise our members on complex matters providing expert advice on employment, contracts, training and local/national agreements.
Please, note that this is a secondment / fixed term opportunity ending 30 June 2026.
As a Senior Employment Adviser you will:
* Prepare and present cases representing members to employers, internal or external appeal panels
* Appear as required at Employment Tribunals
* Negotiate, advise and sign advice certificates on settlement agreements for members
* Assist in the delivery of training to members
* Participate in the support and development of Employment Advisers
* Contribute to a programme of activities including campaign work to promote the Association and recruit and retain members
To be successful as a Senior Employment Adviser you’ll have:
* Experience of complex casework and advising/representing employees (essential)
* Up to date knowledge of employment law,employee relations and HR policies and procedures (essential)
* Ability to keep up to date with the terms and conditions under which NHS doctors work (essential)
* Ability to gather and analyse complex information
* Excellent relationship building skills
* Strong prioritisation and organisation skills with the ability to manage own casework load
As the role covers the London region, it is a requirement for the successful applicant to be based either in London, or within reasonable travelling distance of London, to attend meetings when required.
All our BMA London staff are home-based and all IT equipment will be provided.
