Position Overview
The role requires an exceptionally talented, organised and worldly Senior Art Consultant & Project Manager with at least 10 years’ experience in art consultancy, design work, and project management delivery for major international projects related to hospitality and private sectors.
Education and Experience
* At least 10 years’ professional experience researching, curating, designing, and managing FF&E and Art for international commercial, hospitality, and private projects (not galleries/museums).
* Minimum university degree in project management and/or architecture, interiors, design, or an art‑related subject.
Essential criteria only. Applicants not meeting the above will not be considered.
Desirable Criteria
* Track record of delivering large‑scale, complex international design projects and programmes.
* Experience managing budgets over £1m.
* Knowledge of international shipping, imports/exports, and overseas logistics.
* Leadership and ability to inspire and manage a team of 5 or more.
* Experience working closely with client teams and managing project relations.
* Experience managing suppliers, particularly artists and galleries.
* Proficiency with project management software, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and AutoCAD.
* Portfolio of design work and curation with art elements.
* Passion for modern and contemporary art, and a desire to expand knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
Art Research & Curation
* Research artists and maintain an extensive knowledge of contemporary art, craft, design, materials and production processes.
* Lead cutting‑edge art curation and stay ahead of latest developments relevant to the industries.
* Develop sophisticated, well‑researched, contextually relevant art concept presentations.
* Refine concept presentations through schematic design mark‑ups on floor plans, elevations, and renders.
* Prepare detailed design documents and schedules with item specification, procurement details, and supplier information.
* Liaise with suppliers to establish stock levels, commissioning details and arrange sampling.
* Attend project sites to curate pieces and sign off final presentations.
* Maintain strong understanding of artistic processes, materials, and production methods for decision making and quality control.
* Research artists, materials, and techniques to source suitable suppliers for artwork production, framing, and installation.
* Review DD documents and verify artwork specifications before supply.
* Manage orders and contracts with artists, oversee the commissioning process, proactively identify and address potential challenges.
* Collaborate with artists to troubleshoot technical or aesthetic issues.
* Oversee artwork inspections at studio and storage; ensure quality standards; elevate to Director when necessary.
Project Management & Delivery
* Manage project timelines, track progress of artwork orders, and report regularly to the Director.
* Liaise with clients, provide updates on schedules, sampling, artwork progress and completion.
* Supervise and support project assistants and art technicians to achieve project goals.
* Prepare and manage project budgets, obtain quotes, place orders, track payments, and present financial summaries.
* Track client payments and liaise with Director to ensure cash flow.
* Manage shipping partners for large complex international shipments, obtain quotes, collate invoices, and prepare export documentation.
* Coordinate delivery stage logistics and liaise with clients at delivery.
* Develop and maintain relationships with trusted logistics and shipping partners.
* Visit sites to oversee installation of international projects and coordinate installation teams.
General
In a small company additional day‑to‑day and administrative tasks may arise. The candidate must be conscientious, highly professional, confident in a client‑facing role, and a personable team member. Travel to suppliers, clients, and project locations is expected.
