Department overview New Model Launch is responsible for the introduction of a new model to an active Production Line and ensuring the Quality of the car allows it to be shipped to the first customers at the start of Job1 Job purpose To coordinate and lead a team of Pilot Technicians ensuring the team’s tasks and roles are identified, understood and managed in a timely matter whilst supporting the business during Pre-Production Launch Phases of New Model Programme. The aim is to highlight, record and find owners of build issues, ensure on-line containments are supported / completed to the correct standard and no disruption is caused to the production line. Key duties and responsibilities Co-ordinate the daily activities of the pilot technicians within Lead Technician’s agreed area of responsibility. Lead the Pilot Technicians enabling them to monitor, control and improve the quality level within the areas of identified responsibility. Ensure required team performance is standardized, consistent and meeting Quality and Production operation standards. Motivate and lead the team achieving standards set with regards to the housekeeping, 5S, safety/environmental regulations and reducing waste Support the Pilot Technicians in achieving the production schedules Ensure relocation of labour when skill shortages occur due to absence etc. Ensure all issues are reported during pre-production builds Assist with investigations into issues reported Carry out containments as identified Ensure work is conducted to the required quality VIS Standards Carry out work in line with the process and Standards required using the EASE system, and identify any issues Knowledge transfer from Pilot build to series build Ensure work is completed within cycle time. Support quality, productivity, and process improvement initiatives. Validate quality documents (VIS, quality mapping etc) Assist Problem solving activities Support early concern detection activities such as parts layout, line walks, matching builds, dry builds, trial fit activities and rabbit cars Carry out FLM and Lean activities Assist with trial and prove-out of new equipment and tooling Adhere to risk assessment and H&S regulations. Adhere to company housekeeping policy. Be willing to travel between sites to support as required Experience and qualifications Essential experience Manual dexterity, mechanical/quality aptitude.
