At Turning Point, we support people across England with mental health issues. We make a real difference in their lives by providing personal, flexible, and realistic support to improve their quality of life in their communities. Passionate about people, you'll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career as you gain experience, training, and education to progress with us.
Raising the bar for people-centred outreach services, you’ll enable individuals to learn skills and knowledge to understand and manage their own situations more independently. No matter how complex someone’s mental health needs, you’ll provide support that helps decrease isolation, promote community integration, and help individuals seize new opportunities.
The role involves rotational shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements to promote work/life balance.
Role Responsibilities
You will support clients across Manchester in the community, encouraging engagement in drop-in activities at community centres, attending medical appointments, and supporting social inclusion activities. You will work with clients in their homes, assisting with medication, daily living activities, and providing emotional support as needed, reporting concerns to the Outreach Manager or Nurse Manager.
Working alongside qualified nurses, you’ll recognize signs of deteriorating mental health and help implement interventions. Promoting independence, well-being, and healthy life choices, you’ll also support activities such as walks, theatre trips, gym sessions, and building social networks.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an Outreach Support Worker with experience working with individuals with long-term mental health issues and a solid understanding of their challenges and recovery processes.
You should be a great team player with energy, strong communication skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude to achieve targets in a dynamic environment. Empathy, understanding, and patience are essential, along with a passion for helping others.
Having a driving license is highly desirable.
