Trust Doctor in Orthogeriatrics and Surgical Liaison
Applicationsare invited for two Registrar (ST3+)-level Trust Doctor positions within theSpecialty and Integrated Medicine Clinical Service Unit at Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust. The posts, which are available for immediate start andfixed-term until 31st March 2026, are ideally suited to a resident doctor whohas completed Internal Medicine Training (or equivalent).
Thesuccessful applicants will work alongside a team of five Geriatric Medicine andGeneral Internal Medicine consultants who provide a Surgical Liaison serviceacross three Orthopaedic wards at Leeds General Infirmary. They will help todeliver high quality perioperative medicine for elderly patients admitted withneck of femur and other fragility fractures, in addition to providing medicalcare to younger adults presenting with a wide variety of conditions. Excellentclinical training will therefore be provided in the management of acutelyunwell and deteriorating individuals, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment,rehabilitation, multidisciplinary teamworking, and discharge planning.
Aswell as delivering direct clinical care, the postholders will be expected toprovide advice and guidance to Foundation Year 1 and 2 resident doctorsundertaking placements in Orthopaedics and Orthogeriatrics. They will also helpto develop, and contribute to, our active weekly teaching programme.

Thepostholder will not be asked to contribute to an out-of-hours rota.

Person Specification
Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
* Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date.
* Be eligible to work in the UK. Have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
Qualifications
* Holds an MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification and the MRCP(UK) or equivalent diploma.
Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills
* Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems. Ability to prioritise clinical need.
* Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk. Recognition of, and ability to undertake the initial management of, an acutely ill patient
* Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues.
* Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
Experience
* At least 12-months' experience working within the NHS with relevant clinical experience in Acute / General or Elderly Medicine.
* Completion of Internal Medicine Training Year 1 and 2 competencies or equivalent.
* At least 6-months experience working at Registrar-level
