What you will be doing
You will be working with young people in a specialist eating disorder setting, focusing on treating eating disorders, alongside addressing conditions like depression, self harm, physical health concerns, and psychological distress including trauma.
As an Assistant Psychologist you will have the opportunity to assist with assessments, formulations, and treatment to our service users, under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist. You will also assist in clinically related administration including conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching, and project work.

As an Assistant Psychologist you will be:
1. Contributing to psychological assessments and formulations
2. Facilitating psychological interventions on a 1:1 and/or group basis to service users, monitoring and reporting upon their effectiveness
3. Assisting in designing and delivering specialist training to others
4. Developing individualised positive behaviour support plans with patients
5. Arranging and co-facilitating the monthly family support group
6. Maintaining clinical databases
7. Completing outcome measures
8. Writing reports for various audiences
9. Service evaluation and other research tasks including collecting, analysing, and reporting upon an array of statistics
10. Undertaking clinically relevant audits
To be successful in this role, you will have:
11. A minimum of an upper second-class honours degree in Psychology conferring eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
12. Experience working with patients with eating disorders, or in a CYPMHS or inpatient setting' in a similar role
13. Experience of maintaining office systems and undertaking administration tasks
14. Creative thinking, clinical efficacy, and a strong commitment to working with evidenced based models of therapeutic intervention
15. Strong organisation skills
16. Good interpersonal and communication skills
17. To meet professional practice expectations including the HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethics, and the BPS code of ethics and conduct
Where you will be working:
Brighton & Hove Clinic provides a Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) Tier 4 Eating Disorder service for young people aged 12 up to 18 years with a primary diagnosis of eating disorder; or an eating difficulty with a co-morbid presentation for example mental health or psychological issues, such as depression, OCD or anxiety or self-harm.
