We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Costing Analyst within our Finance team to help support our Automotive business. As a Costing Analyst, you will perform financial evaluation of all internal and external deliverables (quotes, projects, programs and engineering changes, make vs buy decisions) ensuring ROI and EBIT thresholds are met. You will also coordinate and verify that all inputs into the costing process are captured timely and accurately (BOM components, labor routings, equipment inputs, etc.), and will complete customer cost
breakdowns as required.
As a Costing Analyst, you will:
1. Collect all relevant information for a cost model - including BOM from Engineering, component pricing from
2. Purchasing, direct labor and plant investments from Manufacturing Engineering, project costs from PM, and
standards from Finance.
3. Responsible for understanding and communicating key assumptions within cost model inputs.
4. Responsible for documenting change history on project profitability.
5. Analyze impacts of changes and what-if scenarios under the guidance of the Costing Manager. Provide input and guidance to the Costing Manager for capital planning purposes.
6. Identify and recommend cost down potentials.
7. Prepare cost breakdown for customers and maintain database on approved prices and issued documents.
8. Support capital investment review and approval requirements in coordination with Controllers
To be successful you'll need:
9. Univeristy degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; Professional certification and/or MBA preferred
10. 5+ years working experience in Product Costing / Cost Analysis within a manufacturing environment
(automotive preferred)
11. Ability to work on global teams, proficient verbal and written communication
12. Solid understanding of cost accounting and methodologies
13. Experience estimating product materials, labor processes, and assembly equipment
14. Broad experience with manufacturing unit cost and capital budgeting
15. Computer literacy, specifically Miscrosoft Excel
16. Proficiency in ERP systems, familiarity with Microsoft D365 preferred
17. Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail and process
18. High integrity and ethical standards, and an ability to handle confidential information
19. Excellent time management, prioritization, and workload balancing skills
