Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for District Charge Nurse to join a community nursing team in the North East Fife Locality supporting the delivery of high‑quality nursing care to the citizens of Fife.
Responsibilities
The District Charge Nurse will manage a caseload of community patients, leading and managing a team of qualified nursing staff and health support workers. The caseload population is derived from the GP practice to which the team are aligned. The nurse will provide an accessible, appropriate, high‑quality, culturally sensitive and effective nursing service in the community, working in partnership with service users, care providers and other agencies. The role functions as an independent autonomous practitioner, leveraging in‑depth knowledge, expertise, proficiency and experience to lead and enable the district nursing team. The District Charge Nurse will be the clinical expert accountable for case management and nursing activity within the caseload, and will lead, manage and support the district nursing team.
Qualifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. The candidate should have considerable community nursing experience and must have completed further study or demonstrate a willingness to complete further study towards a specialist practitioner community nursing qualification. Ongoing professional development for both the nurse and the team is essential.

Criminal Records Check
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a “regulated role”, appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Any changes to current requirements will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
