Senior Relationship Management and Business Development

Location: Hammersmith, London - Hybrid: 2 days in office, 3 days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing business development in one or more countries, regions or industries.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a robust pipeline of new sales opportunities through effective networking and relationship development with appropriate industry and FinTech companies.
  • Responsible for cultivating and expanding multiple strategic and complex external relationships by serving as lead representative for Capital One to identify and drive opportunities to expand business targets within the portfolio.
  • Serves a strategic role in increasing network transaction volume and revenue generation by selling new programs (e.g., Prepaid, Credit, Debit, etc.).
  • Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
  • Translate organizational goals into tailored account plans that identify and capture untapped growth opportunities, with new and existing acquirer partners.
  • Own the end-to-end strategic account roadmap for our most complex and high-volume global acquirer partnerships.
  • Strategically identifies leads, develops proposals, responds to RFPs and negotiates agreements to maximise network growth.
  • Identifies and creates business cases to establish new development activities with internal (Risk, AML, etc.) and external industry partners.
  • Serve as the strategic liaison between Capital One external accounts, by maintaining relationships with decision-makers, including executive-level, across company divisions of each participant.
  • Secure alignment on strategic priorities and business cases.
  • Manages a portfolio of clients to retain, grow and drive existing and new business by exploring acceptance and volume growth.
  • Manage and build relationships with existing strategic network participants.
  • Maintain knowledge of partners, industry trends and competitive environment by performing market analysis and maintaining opportunity pipeline to recommend actions in improving Capital One's position.
  • Act as the central point of orchestration for internal resources.
  • Rally and align cross-functional teams (Product, Risk, AML, Legal) to execute complex, multi-year account strategies without direct line management.
  • Drive internal processes including development of communications, account management, approval requests and contract negotiations, compliance and risk management.
  • Perform market analyses and business development activities to increase network transaction volume and revenue generation.

Qualifications

  • Passion for sales and relationship management and adept at solving business problems - whether directly or indirectly through Capital One's merchant acquirers.
  • Ability to work on a pipeline to sign up new partners while simultaneously managing existing partnerships.
  • Hands-on approach, involved in planning, sales, and implementation.
  • Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at the executive level to secure alignment on complex, strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Proven track record of signing up new partners from planning to closure.
  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end ownership of high-value, complex portfolios, shifting from transactional to strategic partnerships.
  • Extensive experience working with Acquirers, Payment Networks, PSPs, including embedded finance, gateways or Payfacs.
  • Solid understanding of the UK/European Payment landscape.

Work Arrangement

This is a permanent position based in our Hammersmith office. The role is hybrid, with two days a week in the office.
