The Role
We are looking for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Paediatric Physiotherapy Service within the Respiratory Team at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. The post holder will be the Clinical Lead for the Scottish National Chest Wall Service based at RHC Glasgow. This role will involve developing and evaluating physiotherapy input for children and young people with chest wall deformities. The successful candidate will be a forward‑thinking, versatile and self‑motivated physiotherapist with significant clinical experience, a team player, and an interest in the interaction between postural control and the respiratory system. Good interpersonal and communication skills when working with children, young people and their carers are essential.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Permanent full‑time post occupying 36 hours per week. On‑call, emergency, evening, weekend and public holiday duties will be required.
* Based at Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow, 1345 Govan Road, G51 4TF.
* Shift pattern Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
* Be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work, ensuring a high standard of clinical care and supporting junior staff.
* Support training of on‑call physiotherapy staff to ensure competence in evening and weekend emergency duties.
* Demonstrate practical and theoretical knowledge of clinical governance issues, incorporating risk management, evidence‑based practice, audit and research methodology into practice.
* Provide clinical leadership for specialist paediatric physiotherapists and support workers.
* Be competent to carry out overnight and weekend emergency duties, including in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
* Carry out comprehensive assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills, form accurate diagnosis and prognosis, and develop individualised treatment plans and discharge plans.
* Have a good working knowledge of neurological problems such as cerebral palsy, given frequent respiratory complications.
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience Required
Qualified as a Physiotherapist and holding Band 7 pay level. Significant clinical experience in paediatric physiotherapy, preferably with respiratory or chest wall services. Evidence of leadership, training and clinical governance knowledge. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
