Research Fellow in Computational Neuro-Oncology, London

About the role

We are seeking a Research Fellow with a background in medical image computing or machine learning to join the High-Dimensional Neurology Group and Computational Radiation Biology Lab at UCL. The successful candidate will perform computational modelling of multimodal MRI, molecular, and clinical data of children and young people's brain tumours, collected as part of the PROVIDENTIA project, under the supervision of Dr. Harpreet Hyare and Dr. Jamie Dean.

The initial focus will be on machine learning-based analyses of MRI data to understand patterns of treatment response and recurrence, followed by integration of these data with clinical and molecular data to infer features associated with differential responses between patients.

The post is funded by Cancer Research UK for approximately 11 months in the first instance.

If you have any queries about the role, please contact us.

About you

The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or Computer Sciences, and be near completion of a PhD in medical imaging, physics, biomedical engineering, computer science, neuroscience, or related fields.

Experience in computer programming and machine learning is required. Excellent collaborative, interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills are necessary.

The role involves developing segmentation models for brain tumours in children and young people, creating prototype systems for survival prediction, and integrating multimodal imaging, molecular, and clinical data to support clinical decisions. The candidate will also prepare data for research publications and presentations.

Applicants should include a CV and Cover Letter demonstrating how they meet the criteria. The application process allows leaving the 'Why you have applied for this role' section blank if a Cover Letter is provided.
