Consultant Psychiatrist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team at Derwentside IRC. Derwentside IRC is an Immigration Removal Centre based in Consett, County Durham. The site supports up to 80 women aged 18+ with primary care, mental health and substance misuse service. Within this role you will be joining an established and experienced mental health team, who run a nurse lead service focused on a medical model diagnosis for complex health needs. Psychiatrist caseload of patients would be 4-5 patients per day.
Hours
AM session: 08:00 - 12:00
PM session: 13:00 - 17:00
4 hours per week (either a Tuesday or Thursday) or 8 hours per fortnight (full day or two separate 4-hour sessions).
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary up to £191,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
* Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
* Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
* Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required
* Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
* Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
* Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD
* Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
