What We Are Looking For
Tradebe is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our Life Sciences – Purification division at our Sunderland site.
We are looking for a skilled professional with a strong background in electrical and instrumentation systems, capable of carrying out troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation work in a safe and efficient manner. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in regulated industrial environments.
Mission of the Role
As an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, your mission will be to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical and control systems, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production within the Purification division.
You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence in a Life Sciences environment.
Responsibilities
* Ensure all tasks are performed in line with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, maintaining high housekeeping levels and reporting any defects
* Participate in and support risk assessments, ensuring they remain accurate and up to date
* Maintain and optimize the operation of control equipment, ensuring safe and efficient performance
* Support the E&I Supervisor in managing electrical maintenance and construction schedules while minimizing downtime
* Ensure all electrical work, isolations, and process break-ins are properly communicated and executed under permit systems
* Carry out installation, testing, and calibration of electrical and instrumentation systems in line with legislation and company standards
* Troubleshoot faults by analyzing and interpreting plant data
* Provide timely and accurate reporting on activities, breakdowns, and incidents
* Contribute positively to engineering and production performance objectives
* Support compliant disposal of company waste in line with environmental regulations
* Maintain flexibility to support out-of-hours breakdowns and planned shutdowns, in line with business needs and working time regulations
* Undertake ongoing training to stay current with new technologies and health & safety requirements.
Requirements
* Proven experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within an industrial environment
* CompEx (hazardous areas) qualification is highly desirable
* Knowledge of wiring regulations (18th Edition preferred)
* Experience working under COMAH regulations and strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety legislation
* Familiarity with control systems, PLC logic, and related software is an advantage
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
