About the role:
1. Provide interventions both group and 1:1 for hard to reach service users directed at through the gate provision within the secure estate.
2. Work as part of a prison Team with outreach elements to community engagement.
3. Give advice & interventions for harm reduction, blood borne viruses and overdose prevention advice and naloxone provision.
4. Provide assessment and interventions in a prison setting including full release planning for continuity of care on release.
5. Support community agencies to gain access to service users pre-release, set up gate pick ups and through the gate provision.
6. Engage all service users who may benefit from a substance misuse intervention.
7. Create a confidential, safe and secure environment for service users, encouraging engagement with community services on release.
About you:
8. Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
9. Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics, such as conflict or challenging behaviour.
10. Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
11. Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
12. Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
13. Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
14. Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
15. Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
16. Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
