About The Role
Due to our continued expansion throughout the UK, ID Systems are seeking to recruit a Engineering Design lead to join our rapidly growing teams in our Kingston House, Birstall office.
As the Engineering Design Lead you will be part of our Engineering Team. Responsible for scoping and detailed design through to implementation, ensuring compliance with client specifications and current regulatory standards.
The primary role of the post holder is to lead a team of process, mechanical and electrical engineers to deliver designs, documentation and assist with procurement for pump station / treatment systems etc. Interaction will be required with the client and local teams at site as well as predominantly in the office. The post holder will be responsible for assisting in preparing estimates and quotations and completing contract documents. The post holder will also assist in production of risk assessments and method statements. They will manage the workflow through to the client and undertake design deliverables personally as required. A background in specification of treatment systems and process engineering is preferred as supporting calculations will be required for many designs. These designs can be for industrial or municipal treatment in clean and waste water environments.
As the Engineering Design Lead your responsibilities will include:
1. Specify and if possible undertake treatment and fluid transmission designs
2. Lead a team of multi-disciplinary engineers
3. Carry out site surveys if required
4. Project liaison with the team to take design to construction on site with final acceptance and documentation
5. Liaise with delivery PM’s, sub contractors and Client’s personnel
6. Assist and control preparation of site documentation including environmental, quality and health and safety documents
7. Assist with programme development
8. Materials requisitioning
9. Manpower planning for design and engineering support
10. Reporting of performance of team and design delivery
Engineering
11. Ensure process calculations and designs are delivered, assisting where possible
12. Assist specification of treatment equipment as required for the project
13. Check and / or approve designs from other engineers
14. Manage and support project commissioning requirements
15. Programme required design resource for workload
16. Where required support the estimating and pricing of projects
17. Prepare final documentation (red line As Built Drawings etc.)
18. Ensure Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety processes and procedures are adhered to at all times
19. Ensure all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction
20. Early Identification and resolution of non conformance within both the design and construction phase
21. Effective communication of technical issues between project engineering, designers, consultants, and other functions/support services within the project team
22. Implementing engineering systems, documentation and controls by compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Company and industry standards
23. Checking/Approval of drawings/ specifications
24. Technical input when required into services, products and subcontractors
25. Deadlines are met and where they are not achievable ensuring that the necessary personnel are informed
26. The final product or site deliverable meets customer requirements and specifications and that all necessary stages of fabrication/assembly /production have been completed
Health & Safety:
27. Ensuring that any site survey work is planned and organised so that it can be carried out safely and efficiently on site
28. Managing interface with project delivery managers
29. Writing and compiling MS & RA as per Company procedures for the work
30. Assessing tasks and ensure appropriate personal certification is up to date
31. Assessing tasks and ensure that appropriate equipment is available
Quality:
32. Providing the Team with progress reports and programme updates
33. Holding, managing, recording and reporting progress meetings with team
34. Inspecting completed works and make recommendations on the issue of hand-over and completion certificates
35. Ensuring that all necessary administration work is completed and returned to the appropriate administrative centre in accordance with Company/Client procedures
36. Delivering As Built documentation including As Built drawings

Key competencies, Skills, Experience and/or Training Requirements:
Essential:
37. Good knowledge of Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety processes/procedures

39. Degree/HND/HNC in Chemical/Process Engineering or equivalent preferable
40. Knowledge of Process, Mechanical and Electrical disciplines
41. Good time management

45. Ability to work alone or as part of a team
46. Ability to follow/interpret/explain technical instructions
47. Knowledge of the process equipment required in Industrial and also municipal settings
48. Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations

50. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem solving capabilities
