Teamjobs is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client in Yeovil.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated engineer with experience in the aerospace industry. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. The role requires knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines, including familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. The position involves working under supervision to perform job functions.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility to work over four days.
The pay rate is £35.00-£45.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
* Address REACH obsolescence within the current product range, identify obsolescence issues, and investigate suitable alternatives based on product specifications.
* Support development concept designs, including analysis, with an awareness of manufacturing methodologies and cost considerations.
* Perform detailed design work and process engineering changes.
* Manage all drawings and associated project documentation.
* Work on complex aerospace engineering projects across various areas.
Necessary skills and requirements:
* Attention to detail when reviewing existing drawings for REACH obsolescence and creating investigation reports.
* Produce detailed designs and layouts that meet customer requirements and specifications.
* Ensure the completion and accuracy of drawing packs and supporting documentation.
* Commit to delivering projects on schedule and meeting milestones within a collaborative team environment.
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt beyond usual responsibilities.
* Experience in small component design, design for manufacturing principles, and fine tolerance components is desirable.
