Job overview

University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role however it is important to note that UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa, you must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

An opportunity has arisen for a role to support our Speech and Language and Dietetics teams at UHNM

The post holder will be required to undertake duties to help support the Dietetic and Speech & Language Therapy Service/s. This will include general administrative duties. The post holder will also answer telephone enquiries and assist in the day to day duties in the department.The post holder will support an established admin team in Dietetics to provide a safe and reliable administrative service.

Candidates should possess a professional attitude towards their work and have the ability to work flexibly in a busy environment. You will be required to work as part of a team, as well as being able to use your own initiative and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for communicating information, both written and verbal, with patients, staff and carers requiring tact and diplomacy. The post holder will also be responsible for handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement and acquired knowledge to assess each situation and to deal with accordingly.

The work is wide ranging from the handling of general internal calls, external patient calls and patient relative enquiries and calls from other Healthcare professionals.

* Answering telephone queries
* Sending offer and discharge letters to patients
* Dealing with patient queries
* Scanning and logging referrals using the Order Comms system
* Monitoring the generic email inboxes for Speech Therapy and Dietetics
* Ordering Supplies using the Trust Procurement System
* Maintain accurate spreadsheets
* Data and activity collection
* Photocopying resources as require

Qualifications


Essential criteria

* GCSE English at 4 grade or above or equivalent
* GCSE Maths at 4 grade or above or equivalent
* Good knowledge of ICT applications i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook in Office 365


Knowledge, Skills Training and experience


Essential criteria

* Experience of reception services
* Experience of working as part of a team
* Experience of a computerised appointments system
* Working knowledge of Careflow, I portal, Medisec


Desirable criteria

* 12 months experience in a NHS patient related Reception
* Qualification in Microsoft Office


Personal Qualities


Essential criteria

* Ability to work to defined protocols and seek advice where appropriate
* Ability to cope under pressure


Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of medical Terminology
