About the Role
The Director of Human Resources is a key member of the hotel Executive Committee, accountable for ensuring that people strategy directly enables operational excellence, commercial performance, and brand standards in a luxury hotel environment. The role is positioned as a strategic business partner to the hotel business leaders, with a clear mandate to link workforce decisions to financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Commercial Alignment
1. Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and the hotel Executive Committee on organisational and people matters with direct commercial impact
2. Translate business strategy, budgets, and trading forecasts into effective workforce and capability plans
3. Partner closely with Finance on manpower planning, payroll governance, and labour cost optimisation
Labour Cost Discipline & Workforce Productivity
4. Maintain disciplined control of labour costs, headcount, and productivity aligned with occupancy and revenue mix
5. Drive efficiency through effective rostering, role design, and performance management without compromising guest experience
Leadership Capability & Talent Sustainability
6. Strengthen leadership capability, succession planning, and internal talent pipelines
Governance, Risk & Employment Law
7. Ensure full compliance with UK employment legislation and company policies
8. Lead complex employee relations matters with rigour, fairness, and risk awareness
9. Protect the business from legal, reputational, and operational risk
Culture & Performance
10. Champion a highperformance, accountable, and inclusive culture
11. Align engagement, reward, and development strategies to operational and commercial priorities
About You
12. Proven experience at HR Director / senior HR level in luxury hospitality or complex service led environments
13. Strong credibility as an HR Business Partner
14. Expertise in UK employment law and employee relations
15. Demonstrated ability to link people strategy directly to financial and operational performance
