About the Role
We’re looking for a PHP Developer to join a collaborative, growing IT team that’s dedicated to building and improving bespoke in-house software solutions that power the business.
You’ll be part of a seven-person Development team based in Leeds, working closely with end users to create tailored tools that make a real impact.
A key focus will be enhancing a large-scale, internally built case management platform that’s integral to daily operations across the company.
You’ll continuously improve its functionality, performance, and user experience.
The team has also developed a proprietary document management system, with plenty of exciting new projects and enhancements planned on the roadmap.
Main Responsibilities
* Join an established development team building and maintaining core systems, applications, and APIs.
* Participate in planning, design, and development processes, ideally with experience using the Laravel framework or another MVC framework.
* Build and maintain applications using Laravel, MSSQL, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript, Vue.js, and jQuery.
* Develop and integrate APIs and middleware to connect with other business systems.
* Maintain and improve the existing codebase, including troubleshooting, bug fixing, and adding new features.
* Support code quality and standardisation through testing and peer collaboration.
Essential Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a PHP MVC framework (ideally Laravel).
* Skilled in front-end frameworks such as Vue.js.
* Strong proficiency with JavaScript and jQuery.
* Confident working with relational databases (MySQL and MS SQL).
* Proficient with version control tools such as Git.
* Ability to translate mock-ups into responsive, user-friendly interfaces.
* Comfortable working iteratively and incorporating feedback within Agile workflows.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Knowledge of REST API development.
* Experience with PHP Unit and/or PEST for unit and feature testing.
* Familiarity with Docker.
