Mechanical Engineer Sector: Food Manufacturing Location: Suffolk (near Diss) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Circa £51,000 per annum Hours: 12-hour days & nights iSQ Recruitment is partnered with a well-established food manufacturer near Diss that is experiencing continued expansion due to increasing demand and ongoing investment across the business. To support this growth, they are looking to add an experienced Mechanical Engineer to their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment where you’ll play a key role in keeping production running efficiently. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving machinery, equipment, and site facilities, helping to maximise uptime, reliability, and overall operational performance. Please not this role does not offer visa sponsorship. You must also have a full UK driving license and own vehicle due to the location. Benefits Pension (5% matched) 24 days holiday Salary reviews Life cover Tool allowance Overtime Structured shift pattern with consistent rotation Shift Pattern You’ll be part of a 4-team rotating shift pattern, working: 12-hour shifts (8am–8pm / 8pm–8am) 2 weeks on days, followed by 2 weeks on nights 3 Engineers per shift, with additional day-based electrical support Key Responsibilities Carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance Supporting continuous improvement across plant performance and reliability Working on a wide range of production machinery and site infrastructure Ensuring high standards of safety, compliance, and reporting Collaborating with the wider engineering team to minimise downtime About You We’re looking for a hands-on, experienced Mechanical Engineer who can work confidently in a demanding production environment. You will have: Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) Strong skills in TIG welding, lathes, and milling machines Solid understanding of bearings, chains, sprockets, and taper locks Experience within a manufacturing or heavy plant environment (food/meat sector advantageous) Knowledge of machinery, maintenance practices, and compliance standards Interested?
