Estimator Northampton Monday – Friday Salary £30,000 - £50,000 DOE
We have an opportunity for an experienced estimator to join a family-run business based in Northampton. This is a great opportunity to join a well-established business that has built a strong reputation in the market. The role will be office-based, working closely with their existing client base to support on take-offs, bills of quantities, cost plans, and tenders.
Key Duties:
1. Overseeing the estimating department, including liaising with new and existing clients.
2. Authorising and cross-checking junior/assistant estimators' work prior to submission.
3. Interfacing with all supply chain members, including suppliers and subcontractors, on all aspects related to tenders from enquiry to contract award.
4. Chasing supplier, sub-contractor, and manufacturer quotations.
5. Maintaining enquiry quotation register per contract.
6. Completing estimating tasks and answering relevant queries regarding the estimates provided.
7. Undertaking general support and administrative duties as required.
8. Providing support and assistance to colleagues during peak periods.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Good understanding of the building/construction industry.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience as an estimator.
* Highly organized with strong planning and prioritization skills.
* Analytical and accurate.
* Excellent communicator, able to build and maintain good working relationships.
* Computer literate.
* Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Skilled in negotiations and handling the pressures of a fast-paced environment.
* First-class time management and attention to detail.
* Desirable industry knowledge: PQS background, main contractor experience, residential project estimating, familiarity with SMM7, NRM3, and major measurement methods, and experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Relevant estimating qualifications.
